Yes, it's true, popping your zits is another way to lead to premature aging! Well, how does it cause you to look older? First off, once you pop a pimple the bacteria that spews out spreads all over your face, causing more of those little red bumps to rise up and make your skin look uneven.
Also, when you pop your pimples you create scars on your face. These scars look extremely similar to age spots, making you look much older than you really are!
Dermatologist D’Anne Kleinsmith, MD also noted that popping your pimples can lead to a major age-inducer: wrinkles! ""Several habits, such as popping pimples, may seem harmless, but they can damage your skin, causing scarring, wrinkles and blotchiness," she said.
So, no matter how tempting it is to squeeze that zit on your face, leave it alone! Try using acne spot treatments instead to help reduce redness and make it shrink down a bit, and just let the pimple take its course until it goes away. Although it's annoying, waiting a week for a pimple to go down is a lot better than waiting months for acne scars to finally fade.
