1. Garage Band
Unless you're an aspiring musician who can't get through a day without laying down some new beats and recording music on your phone, there's a good chance you hardly ever touch GarageBand on your phone. It is a very nifty app and has provided Apple users with the opportunity to become amateur recording artists, but that's only if they use it.
When GarageBand is running in the background and getting updated on your iPhone, it burns up your battery life and uses a lot more storage than you'd think. Unless you're constantly making music, you'll be better off deleting it.
2. Stocks
The Stocks app might be interesting to those who have a passion for the stock market, but the seemingly insignificant app can take up more space than expected as it frequently updates and stores data related to news articles, charts, and performance histories. If you don't use it at all, you can easily delete it without a care. However, if you like checking in from time to time, you can offload the app by going to Settings > iPhone Storage > Stocks and tapping Offload App. This will keep your important data saved while also freeing up some space on your device.
3. Podcasts
If you listen to any form of media on your iPhone, from songs to audiobooks, there's a good chance you're using some of today's most popular streaming apps, like Spotify or Apple Music. Therefore, you shouldn't need to use the Podcasts app if you're not actively listening to podcasts on it.
If you have listened to a podcast or two on the app, you might have the auto-download feature turned on for new episodes, which can easily eat up storage on your iPhone and burn some extra battery life as well. It's best to keep track of your podcasts on your go-to streaming app and delete the preinstalled app.
4. Voice Memos
The voice memo app is a fun way to record yourself and sounds around you, and it can be an interesting way to record things you need to remember later. However, the issue with voice memos is that once you stop recording, they're automatically saved to your device, which means that you could have memos that are minutes upon minutes long, just eating up your free space.
Suppose you don't use your voice memo app that often, consider deleting it. If you do, be sure you're checking in on it regularly to delete old memos that you don't need to listen to anymore.
