Looks like we may have a little longer to wait for Prince Harry’s upcoming $20 million bombshell, tell-all memoir to hit the shelves, as rumor has it that its release is being delayed!

Although nothing has been confirmed, and an official release date was never announced, the memoir hasn’t appeared on publisher Penguin Random House’s list of upcoming releases, which is the first sign that it won’t be released in the fall as expected; and at the very earliest, we will have to wait ’til early 2023 for it to come out. However, Penguin Random House released a short statement to say they “don’t put every book on the list so there is nothing to be extrapolated from that.” Interesting…

"If this book’s coming out this year as originally planned it should be in the publisher’s marketing and promotional list—unless they’re planning a surprise or there’s been a delay," one royal insider told The Sun on Sunday. "Its omission has raised lots of eyebrows in royal circles."

The memoir, which is being ghost-written by Pulitzer winning author J. R. Moehringer, is being marketed as a chance for Prince Harry to tell his story "not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become" and that it would include "the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned." And Buckingham Palace has reportedly been nervous about it from the very start, as royal insiders have suggested that no one knows just how much detail he is prepared to go into. It has, however, previously been reported that Prince Harry has ensured that nothing he writes will reflect badly on his grandmother, the Queen. "There’s a lot of new stories in there about the past that Harry has not spoken about before, about his childhood," a publishing insider reportedly told Page Six. "There is some content in there that should make his family nervous."

So what could the holdup be, we wonder? Could it be because Prince Harry is rethinking just how open he wants to be now that he and his father, Prince Charles, are slowly beginning to mend their relationship? As expected, many people have their theories, including Pandora Forsyth, the host of The Express' weekly Royal Round-Up, who told GB News that its omission from the publisher's list could be due to a "surprise" Hollywood style launch. He and Meghan Markle do live in California now, so this wouldn’t surprise us too much!

"Maybe there's a surprise in there for a big launch, a big Hollywood launch," she speculated, before also wondering whether the delay could be down to "legalities." "I can imagine it's going through with a very very fine-tooth comb," Forsyth added. "He doesn't want to annoy the Queen too much, she's been through quite a lot. We do know that anything he does say, you know, journalists will be all across it."
