Prince William may be one half of an iconic royal couple now, but before beginning his relationship with Kate Middleton back in 2001, a royal biographer recently claimed that William allegedly had a “cyber relationship” with none other than Britney Spears.
In the new book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan by Christopher Andersen, the author stated that Prince William was virtually involved with Spears, as well as Lauren Bush, before committing to Middleton.

Anderson doubled down on his allegations in a recent interview with Us Weekly, saying, "[William and Britney] tried to get together back when they were young, and he also had a kind of similar cyber relationship with Lauren Bush, the model and the niece of President [George W.] Bush."
However, Anderson made it clear that the pair never met in real life, saying, "There may have been phone conversations, but I don’t recall that they ever actually managed to get together during that period."
The author’s claims are not entirely unfounded, with Spears even admitting to a string of emails exchanged between the pair back in a 2002 interview. She had said "Yeah, it was just like, all blown out of proportion — we exchanged e-mails for a little bit and he was supposed to come and see me somewhere but it didn't work out."
The extent of their "cyber relationship" doesn’t seem to be anything particularly noteworthy--after all, the Prince married his college sweetheart, Middleton, back in 2011 and have been happily married ever since with three children. While Prince William has yet to comment on his internet dalliance with Britney Spears, and it’s unlikely he will, it’s always interesting to consider an alternate universe in which the pair ended up together.
