A royal Christmas gathering has landed Prince William and Kate Middleton in hot water.
The royal couple appeared to ignore the strict Covid guidelines now in place in the UK during a holiday walk at Luminate, a Christmas-themed walk at the Queen’s Norfolk residence.

The Tier 2 restrictions currently in place in the UK have implemented a "rule of six" on all social gatherings. According to the UK government website, Home Secretary Priti Patel explained, "New laws will enable the police to fine anyone in breach of the rule of six. As we continue to fight this virus, I urge the public not participate in social gatherings of more than six people in any setting, indoors or outdoors."
However, it seems that the royal family has decided to ignore this new limitation.
Will and Kate were caught on a walk with their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, plus Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as well as their two children, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
Although royal sources said that the group had no intention of meeting up (and arrived separately), their group of nine still technically broke the "rule of six," which was not a good look for the royal family.
One source who saw they group walking told Daily Mail, "They were clearly breaking Covid rules, in my opinion, because there were nine of them from two separate households. They were obviously all having a fun evening out. You could tell that the royal youngsters were having a great time."
"But I couldn't help thinking that it was one rule for them and another for the rest of us. It was really quite blatant," the source added.
Although Kate and Will did not respond to the criticism, they did post a sympathetic message on their Kensington Royal Instagram page for Christmas.
The caption read, "Wishing you a merry Christmas doesn't feel right this year, so instead we're wishing for a better 2021. And for those who are struggling today, there is support out there if you need it."
