Acne sufferers know that not every product geared towards clearing breakouts work. In fact, you have to take every cleanser, moisturizer, and spot treatment with a grain of salt.

After years of being let down by acne products, our editors decided to test some of the internet’s top-rated breakout remedies to see which ones held up to the ratings and reviews.

Keep scrolling to see which ones acne products actually helped reduce the size, redness, and sensitivity of our breakouts overnight:

Renée Rouleau Anti-Bump Solution ($47.50)

Renée Rouleau Rapid Response Detox Masque ($63.50)

Renée Rouleau's products are some of the most renowned for clearing acne, but we found that the celebrity esthetician's Anti-Bump Solution and Rapid Response Detox Masque were the best at quickly reducing the appearance of breakouts.

"The formula bypasses the surface of the skin and absorbs deep within to visibly dissolve the bump, without leaving behind dry, irritated skin. Many of my clients have told me using this product has eliminated their need for cortisone shots at the dermatologist’s office," Rouleau says of the Anti-Bump Solution.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion ($17)

There are a lot of spot treatments out there, but Mario Badescu's is our favorite for drying up surface blemishes. It's formulated with a mix of acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, sulfur, and calamine to reveal a clearer-looking complexion after as little as one night.

Peace Out Acne Healing Dots ($19)

We've tried a lot of acne patches, but only Peace Out's Acne Healing Dots delivered the results we wanted. They combine healing hydrocolloid technology with active anti-acne ingredients to minimize breakouts overnight.

Omorovicza Silver Skin Saviour ($125)

Need a good mask to get rid of breakouts fast? Omorovicza's Silver Skin Saviour treats problem areas with the healing and reparative power of colloidal silver and niacinamide. This not only leaves your breakouts looking significantly smaller, but it also unclog pores and reveals smoother skin.

Murad Acne Clearing Solution ($42)

This fast-acting formula contains 0.5 percent salicylic and acid acne medication to treat breakouts and reduce the appearance of pimples fast. We love it because it didn't leave our skin feeling dry or irritated.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads ($40)

These pads combine maximum strength two percent salicylic acid and potent 10 percent glycolic acid complex, addressing active acne blemishes and preventing future breakouts. Not only did the Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads stop our breakouts, but they also improved our skin tone and texture with its exfoliating and soothing abilities.
