Camilla Parker Bowles Turned One Of Princess Diana's Necklaces Into A Brooch
Back in the early 1980s, when the late Diana Spencer was getting married to King Charles II, who was Prince Charles then, she was gifted a necklace with an emerald pendant. The jewelry is said to have included jewels from the 1860s. When Diana tragically died in a car accident in 1997, the necklace was reportedly returned to the royal collection of jewelry.
Decades later, after Camilla officially wed Charles, she selected the necklace from the collection and had it turned into a brooch. Jewelry experts estimate the brooch has four carats of white diamonds and is topped with the emerald pendant. It also reportedly includes diamond-encrusted ostrich feathers, so it's become a rather extravagant accessory.
Maxwell Stone, the creative director at Steven Stone, said in a piece on the brooch that the "transformation of the necklace into a brooch likely has minimal impact on its value, especially if the redesign was recent and expertly executed."
"On today's market, it could be valued at around £100,000, if not more, had it remained in its original necklace form," he continued.
Princess Diana Fans Are Outraged After Learning About Camilla's Brooch
Once it had been revealed that Camilla had repurposed Diana's beloved necklace, fans of the late princess took to social media to express their disappointment.
Queen Camilla is not a favored figure in the mom-of-two's story, as she infamously had an affair with Charles while he and Diana were still married. The two women reportedly did not get along, as Diana was aware of their affair and famously said she felt that her marriage to Charles consisted of three people and was "a bit crowded."
Therefore, when it was discovered that Camilla had been walking around with a piece of Diana's jewelry, her fans posted negative comments about the queen consort.
