Jennifer Lawrence Discusses Postpartum Depression
The Hunger Games alum didn't just wow in the pictures, as her accompanying interview is also getting people talking too! The mom-of-two was extremely candid while talking about motherhood, opening up about experiencing postpartum depression after welcoming her second child (believed to be called Louie) with husband Cooke Maroney earlier this year. She gave birth to their first child, son Cy, in 2022.
Lawrence has briefly touched on motherhood in the past, noting how surreal it was to be experiencing postpartum while working on Die My Love, in which she plays a mother grappling with postpartum depression, rage, boredom, and psychosis. She told the magazine: "It is a privilege to talk about something that, 10 years ago, we weren't talking about."
"I had really bad postpartum with my second – who I was actually pregnant with while we were making this [movie] – so I had to watch cuts of it while I was suffering from postpartum," the No Hard Feelings actress confessed.
The Dior ambassador also reflected on the emotional highs and lows of motherhood at a press conference during the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, saying: "There's not really anything like postpartum." The Don't Look Up actress said the experience is "extremely isolating," adding: "The truth is extreme anxiety, and extreme depression is isolating no matter where you are. You feel like an alien."
