Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban Have Reportedly Broken Up After 19 Years Of Marriage
If you're a fan of either the Big Little Lies actress or the country singer, and you had internet access yesterday, you've likely seen the headlines that they have split after being married for 19 years. It's quite a depressing headline for those who have been following the couple for quite some time, as they always seemed to support each other and also have two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, who are 17 and 14 years old.
The pair first met at a gala in 2005, after she had divorced Tom Cruise in 2001. They began dating months later, got engaged in 2006, and married in their home country of Australia later that year. Since then, they've given interviews about how much they love and respect each other, and many still remember the touching speech Keith gave about his wife at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala just last year, calling her a "real-life princess" with an "otherworldly aura."
However, this week, a reportedly valid source familiar with the couple and their latest marriage troubles has confirmed that the two have broken up and have been living apart since "the beginning of summer," as shared by E! News.
Nicole & Keith's Split Was Allegedly One-Sided
While there is not a ton of information available on what went down to make this couple call off their almost 20-year marriage, the sources who confirmed their breakup have begun claiming that it was not a mutual decision, and there are beliefs that their hectic schedules may have had something to do with it.
Two months prior to their split, E! News reported that Nicole had applied to become a resident of Portugal, but her husband's name was not listed on it.
"Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S.," a source told the publication. "And it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa."
It's no secret that the pair are individually very busy, with the Moulin Rouge icon continuing to take on acting projects, and the singer-songwriter performing on international tours. Although this seemingly hasn't been an issue in the past, sources are suggesting something must have changed with Keith, as Nicole allegedly worked very hard to keep them afloat and save their relationship.
"She didn't want this," an inside source told People. "She has been fighting to save the marriage."
As of right now, we're still waiting for the two stars to confirm the split themselves and give us a glimpse into what happened. However, People wrote that the actress's sister, Antonia, has been her "rock," and a lot of fans are sending their entire family a lot of support.
