Ryan Seacrest has been known as one of today’s most famous television personalities for a while now, but his latest hosting gig isn’t getting the best reviews from fans.
The American Idol icon has been hosting the legendary show, Wheel of Fortune, for about a year now, following its previous host’s retirement. While many were excited to see that he was chosen as the replacement and excited to see him bring the same enthusiasm he brought to the singing competition to the game show, viewers are expressing some disappointment in his hosting abilities. Read more about what they had to say below.
Ryan Seacrest Says He Takes Hosting 'Wheel of Fortune' Very 'Seriously' In An Interview
Last year, Pat Sajak, one of the most famous hosts of the legendary game show, which has been around since 1975, shocked the world when he announced his retirement. Not long after, it was revealed that the Georgia native would be replacing him.
It wasn't a super surprising choice for many television lovers, as Ryan has made a name for himself as one of the most well-known show hosts and reality personalities of his generation. Working as a reporter and host since the '90s, he really took his fame to the next level through hosting American Idol, which he still works on to this day. He officially took over Wheel of Fortune last September, and over the summer, he gave The Hollywood Reporter some insight into how it's going for him.
"I have a lot of fun with the job, but I take the responsibility very seriously," he said. "We all have memories of watching Wheel with our families."

Television Viewers React To Ryan's Hosting Abilities And Call Him 'Insincere'
Although the 50-year-old has expressed how much he cares about the game show and how seriously he's taking it, over the last month, more and more viewers have expressed their disappointment in his hosting abilities. He received a lot of positive feedback last year, but since the new season began in September, things have started to change.
On platforms like Reddit, users wrote about how they felt the host could be doing a better job, and that as of right now, he doesn't seem like his same, bubbly self.
"He's doing a good job, but not a great job," wrote a viewer. "His interactions don't seem sincere or, at best, very awkward."
"I stopped watching because of Ryan Seacrest," added another.
Other watchers judged specific technical choices he's making as a host that are related to the particular nature of Wheel.
"It definitely bugs me that he NEVER says the prize amount out loud in the bonus round!" commented a user. "He just opens the envelope and smiles. It's odd."
Another user responded that Ryan is "possibly too lazy to read."
We'll be curious to see if the media star responds to any of the backlash following his latest Wheel of Fortune episodes, but for now, watchers continue to tune in, and it's unclear whether or not they'll change their tune.
