Selena Gomez Posts Video Of Herself In Tears
Back in January, the 32-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress shared a video of herself in tears, alongside the caption, “I’m sorry,” followed by a Mexican flag emoji. She then deleted the video after receiving backlash for it, which then caused her to face even more backlash.
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand,” The Emilia Pérez star says in the video, while crying. She then adds: “I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
After deleting the video, the Rare Beauty founder shared a short message on her Instagram Story, which read: “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.”
Selena Defends Herself
Now, a few months later, Selena is addressing the situation, and defending herself and others for being empathetic and vulnerable. In her recent Billboard interview, she spoke about how important it is to use online platforms for good, despite the risk of receiving backlash.
"At the end of the day, it matters to be vocal about issues that matter to you whether you are famous or not," she said. "It's not for the faint of heart, because you are putting yourself out there and trust me there will be a lot of opinions that come at you for even having the nerve to say anything at all."
