Clips of the number quickly went viral, not only because of her flattering look, but also because she surprised the crowd by bringing out artist Wyclef Jean to perform their hit together. Shakira Performs ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ In A Backless Netted Dress During Newark Concert
There are a lot of big artists touring around the world this summer, and an especially notable one is the Colombian singer, who has been traveling the globe for her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour.
Earlier this week, her tour made a stop in Newark, New Jersey, as she performed at the Prudential Center on Tuesday, July 14th. The show was reportedly sold out, and brought a slew of fans to see her perform some of her biggest hits. One of those is her iconic single, “Hips Don’t Lie,” which features Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean and was released in 2005. During her New Jersey show, she surprised her fans by bringing the featured rapper out on stage for a rare duo performance.
For the special moment, which was filmed and shared by numerous fans on social media, Shakira was wearing one of her specially designed tour costumes, a light brown, backless dress made from a see-through netted material. The dress went down to just above her ankles and had sparkling embellishments that added extra shine every time she did some of her choreography. Her blonde hair was worn down in its signature curls, and she wasn’t wearing shoes, going barefoot.

Fans React To Shakira’s On-Stage Look As She Prepares To Perform During World Cup Finale
It didn’t take long for pictures and videos of the “She Wolf” singer performing on stage in Newark to go viral, as fans not only loved seeing her reunite with Wyclef Jean, but also her costume for that segment of her big show.
“She is really on fire at 49,” commented a fan on Instagram. “She is delivering on stage just like it is 2009.”
“Seeing them perform this live together again is incredible,” wrote a fan of “Hips Don’t Lie,” who called the song “a truly timeless anthem.”
“She looks amazing!” one fan added, as another called her look “hypnotic.”

The Latin artist is generating extra buzz and making a lot of headlines at the moment, as she’s slated as one of the big artists set to perform at this year’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, just outside of NYC. For the big show on Sunday, July 19th, fans are looking forward to hearing some of her greatest hits, including “Waka, Waka,” her viral anthem that was written and released for the 2010 World Cup.
