Struggling With A Slow iPhone? Change These 2 Settings, Tech Experts Say

There are a few reasons why your phone could be slower than you’d like it to be. For starters, you could have an old battery that needs to be changed. You could be using a number of resource-intensive apps that sap battery power and cause your phone to stall. But if your phone is fairly new, your apps aren’t anything out of the ordinary (such as games with intense graphics), and you can’t put your finger on the problem, the culprits could be two settings that are known for slowing down devices.

Disabling these two settings likely won’t be something that you even notice, and if you do at first, you’ll get used to the change sooner rather than later.

If you’re struggling with a slow iPhone, change these two settings to experience a difference.

1. Reduce Motion and Animations

Motions and animations look great on your phone, but if you’re willing to compromise on better graphics, you’ll benefit from a faster and more functional phone. When your iPhone uses visual effects and animations like parallax effect and transition animations between screens, this consumes a lot of processing power. Turn off this setting by going to Settings > Accessibility > Motion. Enable Reduce Motion.

2. Background App Refresh

It’s nice to have a setting that updates your apps’ content in the background. This allows you to access the freshest, newest content whenever you want, without waiting for it. But for this privilege, you give up battery power and your phone can run slower as a result. Consider disabling the setting by heading to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. You can disable the setting completely or turn it off for certain apps.
