Caffeine

Starting your day with a dose of caffeine can be beneficial for several reasons: it can give you an energy boost to get through the day, it adds some routine to your morning, and, according to experts, it can even help you lose weight. In fact, Heathline says that caffeine can boost your resting metabolic rate by 3%-11%. Nice!

However, according to Dr. Crawford, caffeine supplements are much more effective for boosting your metabolism than a hot cup of coffee. "Caffeine in coffee, tea, colas, (and) energy drinks are largely ineffective," she says. "It takes a higher of a dose of encapsulated caffeine to have a 'good' effect-equivalent of 2-3 cups of coffee." Noted.

2. Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

According to Dr. Axe, CLA is the name given to the group of chemicals found in the fatty acid called linoleic acid, which has been linked to weight loss. Some fatty acids are good for our health, and Josh explains, "CLA is a type of polyunsaturated fat, specifically an omega-6 fatty acid." Dr. Axe further notes that CLA supplements are one of the most popular weight loss supplements on the market.

One study found that people who took a CLA supplement "burned fat stores more efficiently, used less protein for energy (aka maintained muscle mass), and burned more energy while they slept," according to InsideTracker. Sounds like it's definitely work a shot!

3. Capsaicin

Beleive it or not, capsaicin is the same compound found in hot peppers. It's what makes them burn sometimes! As it turns out, when taken as a supplement, this compound can actually improve your overall health in several ways. One such way is by boosting your metabolism so that you can lose weight faster.

According to Dr. Day, studies show that consuming capsaicin can boost your metabolism 20 percent for up to 30 minutes. That's why doctors recommend taking a capsaicin supplement for a faster metabolism.

4. Vitamin B6

There are so many reasons to up your vitamin B6 intake. This vitamin, which is found naturally in foods like salmon, beef, cheese, and more can help support brain health, immunity, and also metabolism.

Nutritionist Amy Shapiro tells Byrdie that Vitamin B6, and B Vitamins in general, can help to improve weight loss results. "B6 helps with the production of L-Carnitine, an amino acid that helps our body use fat for energy," Amy says. "This leads to increased fat burning." Sounds great!

Remember to speak with an expert before including any of these supplements into your everyday diet to boost your metabolism. Luckily, a faster metabolism is right around the corner!
