Tom Cruise is reportedly unfazed after his and Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri, legally removed his famous last name.
The Mission: Impossible star’s 20-year-old daughter, who he’s reportedly remained estranged from over the last decade, has legally changed her name to drop her dad’s. Now, after some wondered how Tom might be feeling about the big change, a new source has come forward to claim that he’s had little reaction to the decision, noting that he’s long prioritized his career over repairing their relationship. Records Show Suri Cruise Legally Changed Her Last Name To Remove Her Father's
The daughter of the two notable performers has her name in headlines a lot more these days, as not only is she making her way in the world as a young adult, beginning to star in shows at the age of 20, but she has also made a change to her name that's catching people's attention.
Suri is the only child Tom Cruise shares with ex-wife Katie Holmes, and was born in 2006, being raised by both of them before they divorced in 2012. Since then, the Dawson's Creek star has primarily raised their daughter in New York. This week, reports revealed that Suri has legally changed her last name from Cruise to Noelle, using her mother's middle name instead. The name change was discovered through official voter registration records in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in October 2024, but there were already rumors of it circulating, as she had already been using "Suri Noelle" publicly, like during her high school graduation.
The name change being used in a legal voter registration record was a strong indicator that not only is the young woman still estranged from her dad, but that she's seemingly ready to distance herself from him on another level.

Tom Reportedly Has No 'Reaction' To Suri Dropping His Last Name
Since the revelation of her name change has been revealed, some fans and other pop culture enthusiasts have wondered what the Digger actor's reaction must be. The news comes as part of a string of children born to celebrities altering their identities, some of the most recent incidents being several of Brad Pitt's kids dropping his name and using their mom's instead.
Though there are a lot of people who read the headlines about Suri and assume Tom must be feeling devastated, an inside source has come forward to allege that the news has not affected him and that he hasn't had much of a reaction to it.
"Tom's reaction has been almost nonexistent," a source told celebrity reporter Rob Shuter. As far as Tom is concerned, this chapter of his life ended years ago...Tom compartmentalizes better than almost anyone. His career has always been his priority. Once he believes something is beyond his control, he simply moves forward."
According to the sources that spoke to the reporter, it remains that one of the dad-of-three's only ties to his daughter are the support payments he's made to her mother as part of their divorce. Therefore, the name change did not seem like that big of a deal.
"This wasn't a shock," an insider added. "The legal name change simply caught up with the life they've already been living."
