In the newly released trailer for Euphoria season 3, Sydney Sweeney reprises her role as Cassie, giving fans a brief but revealing preview of her character’s updated wardrobe.
One standout moment shows Cassie—now portrayed as an OnlyFans model—posing poolside in a retro-inspired red-and-white gingham bikini. The look features a ruffled halter neckline with a bow detail and high-waisted bottoms, leaning heavily into vintage pin-up style. Her beauty look followed suit, with blonde hair swept into a tousled updo and soft bangs brushed to the side for a nostalgic finish.

In another moment, she’s seen wearing a strapless bustier-style corset top, paired with playful dog ears and face paint accenting her nose.
Beyond the fashion glimpse, the Euphoria season 3 trailer confirms a major five-year time jump that moves the story past high school and into early adulthood. Rue (Zendaya) is still grappling with addiction and mounting debt, while Cassie’s storyline takes a dramatic turn as she becomes an adult content creator and marries Nate (Jacob Elordi).
The rest of the plot is shown navigating a darker, more chaotic phase of life, with the season leaning into themes of excess, faith, redemption, and the messy realities of growing up.
However, fans on X (formerly Twitter) weren’t impressed with Cassie’s storyline and took to the platform to voice their outrage over Sweeney's role.
“Degenerate filth,” said one user about the plot. A second wrote, “The whole generation is cooked, istg.” A third noted, “They have started promoting OF in movies now. Brilliant.” A fourth commented, “They really thought outside of the box for that character development.” Someone else quipped, “Not appropriate for a show directed at children and teens and adults.” Another person asked, “Why did she accept that role??” One person added, "Just yet another film/show we’re gonna take advantage of her in."

Sydney Sweeney Gets Candid on Playing Cassie
Despite the recent backlash, Cassie has played a major role in propelling the 28-year-old's career and remains one of her most recognizable characters. The first season of Euphoria, which premiered in 2019, introduced audiences to her portrayal of Cassie, and by season 2, she earned widespread critical acclaim that cemented her status as a standout talent.
In a May 2025 interview, the Anyone But You actress reflected on her connection to the character, saying, “I have such a soft spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear. She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She’s flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love as well,” Sydney told Empire.
“It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is,” she continued. “Sam [Levinson] is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with, because I’ll read something, then I’ll call him, and I’m like, ‘Let’s go crazier.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m all in.’”
Sydney also teased what’s ahead in Season 3, adding, “And this season is unhinged.”
