Sydney Sweeney Looks Unrecognizable With Bulky Muscles And Dark, Curly Hair In The New 'Christy' Teaser
In honor of the Toronto Film Festival, the Euphoria actress shared new photos, which can be seen here, for Christy, her latest film project. The movie follows the life of Christy Martin, an iconic American professional boxer, who, amongst her many achievements, was the first female boxer elected to the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame.
Christy, like a typical boxer, had an appearance and build much different from Sydney's, requiring the actress to change a lot for the filming process. She ditched her long, blonde locks for shorter, dark, very curly hair, and, more notably, bulked up to look like a true wrestler.
In photos, as well as the new teaser trailer, the 27-year-old can be seen taking on the true boxer persona, working out and boxing in the ring.
Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About Gaining 30 Pounds For Her New 'Christy' Role
Not long before the new teasers and trailers came out for Christy, the Anyone But You star opened up about what she had to do to portray Christy, including how much weight she had to gain in order to look more like her in the ring. In an interview with W magazine, Sydney revealed that she had gained 30 pounds to play the boxer, and followed a strict training routine and diet in order to transform her body quickly for the role.
"I started eating," she recalled. "I weight-trained in the morning for an hour, kickboxed midday for about two hours, and then weight-trained again at night for an hour."
While this may sound intense and almost annoying, she revealed that she "loved" doing it.
"It was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong," she added.
When fans and other internet users saw the latest photos and videos of Sydney portraying the boxer, they shared their astonished comments on social media platforms like Instagram, sharing their surprise at her transformation and excitement to see the movie.
"Can't wait to see this!" commented a fan.
"Your range is incredible," added another.
"She looks very different," wrote an Instagram user.
We'll be curious to hear more reviews from movie lovers when Christy comes out in theaters on November 7th. For now, people can't seem to get over Sydney's unrecognizable look.
