Whenever a fast-food favorite chain brings back a previously-discontinued menu item, customers are sure to be excited. It was no different when Taco Bell recently announced it would be bringing back the Enchirito, which has been officially off the menu since 2013.
The burrito-enchilada hybrid made a quick return to the restaurant in November of last year, but this latest comeback seems like it will stick around a little longer—Taco Bell Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery confirmed the Enchirito’s homecoming on a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) post: “Late last year the enchirito won the fan vote to temporarily come back on the menu. If you missed it, don’t worry, I can confirm publicly for the first time that it will be back very soon for a limited time.”
The Enchirito Combines A Burrito And Enchilada Into One Tasty Dish
The classic version of the Taco Bell Enchirito features a soft flour tortilla filled with beef, beans, and diced onions, then rolled up and topped with red sauce and shredded cheddar cheese. Of why the Enchirito was brought back, Montgomery wrote in the AMA, the restaurant decides what feels right "for the brand, the business, the team members—all reflective of fan feedback, wrapped in cultural relevancy and, of course, what's uniquely Taco Bell."
The Enchirito is already available to order on the Taco Bell website, with options to make it Supreme (with sour cream and diced tomatoes) or to add popular upgrades and sauces, like guacamole, queso, chile verde sauce, and spicy ranch. Customers can also add in extras like black beans, Fiesta Strips, and seasoned rice.
Customers Frustrated With Limited-Time Release
Though many on the Reddit post were thrilled that the Enchirito would be making a comeback, some were frustrated with the fast food brand for the fact that the clear fan-favorite item would only be returning on a limited basis, per Montgomery's comment.
"You're missing the entire point," replied one Redditor to Montgomery's announcement that the Enchirito would return for a limited time. "We don't want limited time offerings. The items are on the make line (for the most part). Stop playing f-----g games with the menu."
Others felt the same: "If the Enchirito is so great and beloved, and IT IS, then why bring it back on a limited basis? Don't get me wrong; I'm glad it's coming back, but why not permanently?" questioned one commenter. Another added, "Can it just like…stay?"
Twitter also rejoiced at the news:
@tacobell #ReunitedAndItFeelsSoGood. Lovin' life at the Lenoir City TN Taco Bell. Thank you for bringing back this CULT favorite (have never been a cult member, but now I'm loud and I'm proud). Long live the Enchirito! pic.twitter.com/EwNeHWoM77

Other popular dishes coming back for at least a limited time this year include the Volcano Burrito, Volcano Taco, and Lava Sauce in late June, as well as the Beefy Crunch Burrito in early August, after the item beat out the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco in a customer vote on returning items earlier this year.
