For years now, Taylor Swift and Donald Trump have found ways to make it clear that they do not support each other, but that has seemed to stop at an interesting time.

Taylor Swift is currently under fire after The White House posted a TikTok video promoting Donald Trump’s administration, using one of her newest hit songs, “The Fate of Ophelia.” Although many Swifties and other pop culture fans expected a quippy response from the singer, requesting to take the video down, the singer has not responded, leading to a lot of backlash. However, many of her loyal fans are there to stand up for her and have theories as to why she’s staying silent. Read more about the situation below.

The White House Uses Taylor Swift's Song In A TikTok Video

During his first administration, and now, throughout his current one, Donald Trump has gotten in trouble with some of today's biggest musicians for using their music to promote either his campaigns or administration. For instance, major artists like Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Mick Jagger, and, more recently, Olivia Rodrigo, have released statements and publicly denounced the current president's use of their music or hit songs for rallies, commercials, promotional videos, etc.

Earlier this month, the White House's TikTok acccount used Taylor Swift's super trendy song, "The Fate of Ophelia" in a new video, where the lyrics, including "pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes," were used to promote the current administration, including Trump, Vice President JD Vance, First Lady Melania Trump, and Second Lady Usha Vance. You can view the TikTok video here.

The video gained a lot of traction, primarily because the president and the Eras Tour star have notoriously not been each other's supporters, with him being vocally against her since she began speaking out about politics, and posting messages that he "hated" her on social media last year.

Taylor Swift's Fans Defend Her After She's Slammed For Remaining 'Silent'

After the White House video was shared, many fans of the singer and other internet users expected the Grammy winner to make some sort of response, joining the many other artists who have vocally 'banned' Trump from using their songs.

Still, Taylor has yet to make a statement on the matter, much to many people's surprise, and that has led to numerous internet users slamming her for staying "silent," worried it means she has aligned herself with the president's policies. However, there are also many fans of hers, as well as other music lovers, who are defending her decision to stay silent, believing that it's best for her not to draw too much attention to it.

"If she says nothing, she gets associated with him," wrote a user on Reddit. "If she speaks up, she gives him the attention he wants. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't, so might as well not give him any attention. Demand action from your representatives, not your celebrities."

"He would love for her to speak out," added another.

"The obsession with Taylor and demanding she personally solve American problems is unfair, unhealthy, and counterproductive," commented a fan, as another encouraged those criticizing the vocalist to "leave her alone."
