Since she began dating Travis Kelce and became one of the most famous faces at numerous Kansas City Chiefs games and two Super Bowls, Taylor Swift has managed to become a familiar figure associated with the NFL.
Now, some football fans who aren’t so into the singer are beginning to panic after the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, recently stated that she was “welcome” to be a part of NFL games, notably the infamous Super Bowl Halftime Show. His response didn’t come long after some rumors began to circulate that Taylor would be the main act due to her recent engagement to Travis Kelce, but still, some more hardcore football enthusiasts are not into the idea and began threatening to boycott the major event. Read more about the situation below.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Says Taylor Swift Is 'Welcome Anytime' To Play The Super Bowl Halftime Show
Now that she's about to become a professional football player and Super Bowl alum's wife, more fans of the "Midnights" singer are getting super excited to watch her flash her massive engagement ring at games throughout the season. Now that it's been announced that the 2026 annual Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event of the year, will happen at the San Francisco 49ers' stadium in February, many are wondering if she'll be doing more than cheering on Travis in the crowd.
A few weeks ago, the superstar couple got engaged, leading millions of Swifties and others to wonder just how involved Taylor will be in not only this year's football season, but also the grand finale, this year's Super Bowl. Once they announced they were tying the knot, fans began going online to spread rumors and post hopes that Taylor would be this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, as the main act has not been announced yet.
So, while Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, was being interviewed on the Today Show, after he was asked if the Grammy winner would be involved in the show at all, he responded, "We would always love to have Taylor play."
"She is a special, special talent. And obviously, she would be welcome at any time," he continued, before saying that "it's a maybe" as to whether or not Taylor would perform.

Football Fans React To Roger's Statement On Social Media
Once Roger's interview went live, clips of him talking about Taylor quickly went viral on social media. Many fans of the singer were thrilled, posting about how excited they were by the possibility, given she's never performed the Halftime Show before. However, some football fans who are more anti-Taylor were not happy.
Since she began showing up at NFL games, some football viewers have been showing their dislike for the singer on social media, not enjoying how she gets screen time during some Chiefs games. It seems that those people began showing up on platforms like Instagram under viral clips of Roger's interview.
"Please don't," commented an Instagram user. "We need rock or country. We've had enough pop."
"And we are 'welcome' to change the channel for halftime," commented another.
"Come on, real football fans," wrote a football watcher. "Do you really want this?"
"This is horrible," claimed a disappointed fan. "It's going to be rigged."
While it seems that many of these furious fans are being drowned out by super excited Swifties, it's still fascinating to see just how much a rumor or hint at the future performance gets some football fans riled up.
