Looking to revamp your hair while also making thinning less noticeable? Look no further. We have consulted with experts and professionals in hair styling to provide three great go-to haircuts. An asymmetrical lob, side-parted pixie cut, and long layers with wispy curtain bangs will add youthful energy to your look,  they explain, while making your hair appear fuller, thicker, and healthier.

Read on for tips, suggestions, insight and more details on these ‘dos from Gina Rivera, celebrity hair stylist and founder of Phenix Salon Suites and Ghanima Abdullah, hair expert and cosmetologist at The Right Hairstyles.

3 No-Fail Haircuts That Make Thinning Less Noticeable

1. Asymmetrical Lob

A lob (or 'long bob') is a great style to try if you want to keep some length while also going a little shorter, Rivera explains. Abdullah agrees, and adds that a side part can give more volume to thinning hair than a middle part, and this can also hide any signs of thinning in the crown area.

As seen here on Rosamund Pike, this 'do is chic, timeless and can work with any hair texture. Rivera says that this look is a "terrific choice" for mature beauties," since it's a perfect blend of classic yet still modern and trendy.

"This style is so hip that it’s perfect for making our ladies in their prime look super chic," she says. "Removing a bit of length from the hair, [adds] movement and creates a youthful appeal."

She also deems this cut to be an "opportunity to remove some of the damaged ends and weight which bring more life to the hair as well."

Additionally, Rivera advises that it’s best to always "consult with your stylist on a maintenance schedule but for those trying to regain hair health, make sure to trim every 4-6 weeks."

Abdullah concurs, and says that a deep side part should  be added "to create more volume on the top of the head by literally pushing more hair to one side of your head," and this hairstyle is great for hiding thinning on top if you have any.

2. Side-Parted Pixie

A pixie is one of the best low-maintenance cuts out there for any age, and it also makes thinning hair look so much fuller. As Abdullah previously explained the importance of a side part for volume, adding this to a pixie can make your hair look even more thicker and healthier, as seen above on Kate Mara.

Along with this kind of part, Abdullah also recommends getting lots of layers for your pixie to make hair loss less obvious. "Ask your stylist about the amount and placement of layers that will help create volume and body in your hair," she says. "Tell them you would like to create more volume.

Generally, pixies that add volume are cut very short in the back, a little long around the ears, and long up top." She adds that "the layers can be cut to swirl around the head to hide thinning in whichever areas its most apparent," and that it's a good idea to "take a few pictures into the salon to see what's possible and will look best on you."

Ultimately, she deems this pixie cut look to be "effortless" and a great way to not only hide thinning hair, but also draw more attention to your beautiful and favorite facial features.

3. Long Layers with Wispy Curtain Bangs

For anyone who struggles with thinning hair but who also wants to keep their hair long, this just might be the 'do for you! Abdullah recommends long layers for anyone looking to create movement, but also to hide thinning.

Many of us deal with hair loss at the crown area, and wispy curtain bangs like Kaley Cuoco's can cleverly conceal this. Abdullah notes that curtain bangs "add length and volume so you don't have to spend hours styling."

She adds that they are incredibly versatile and "can be worn short or long, curled or straight," and that the key is to "keep the bangs long enough to cover the eyebrows and frame the face and eyes."

If you're noticing your part widening, Abdullah explains that curtain bangs "make your hair appear thicker, and are a great way to add volume to thinning hair."

The style works well for "women who want to hide thinning hair in the front," she emphasizes, as it creates "a soft, natural looking wave at the top of the head."

Curtain bangs (often sported by Kerry Washington above) make your face appear smaller and slimmer when they come down to cheek level. "If you wear them at eye level, they bring more emphasis to your smile and can fill in your cheeks as well—the baby doll look," she continues.

Rivera agrees, and concludes that whether you choose an asymmetrical lob, side-parted pixie or long hair with curtain bangs, layering is essential to keep your tresses from appearing dull and lifeless.

"For long-haired beauties, long layers are essential for creating movement, dimension, and a more voluminous look," she says. This, she adds, is especially important if the hair is thin.

"Long layers tend to remove a bit of the weight from the hair, making it lighter and ultimately, creating the illusion of being fuller."
