Just the thought of Krispy Kreme makes your mouth water, right? From its famous glazed donuts to the limited-edition holiday masterpieces (mmm, Red Velvet!), every item on the menu makes your face light up like a kid in a candy shop. The only problem is, donuts are against the diet, right? So, you make an exception and tell yourself you'll order a healthier option on the menu. You assume this item is better because it contains "fruit." Well, little do you know that it's by far the worst item they make calorie-wise. What is it?

Looking at the menu, you assume fruit means healthy. WRONG! Krispy Kreme’s Apple Fritter goes completely against that diet of yours. It’s actually worse than the Original Glazed Donut (which also has its share of health risks). Click to find out why.

According to the nutritionist, Lisa Rose, “Food additives are used to prolong shelf life and preserve flavor and color. They rely on these artificial food additives so they can process their bulk flour mix and ship nationwide.” However, these additives are associated with multiple health conditions like headaches, mood swings, skin rashes, joint pain, and more.

Not only can these additives be found in the Apple Fritter but its nutritional facts make you want to drop it on the spot. According to Eat This, Not That, it’s 400 calories! Plus, there’s 20g of fat and 28g of sugar! There’s barely any nutritional value added for containing apple and it’s covered in high fructose corn syrup anyway. Gross!

If you’re seriously craving Krispy Kreme, opt for the Original Glazed Donut. The simpler, the better. In the end, it’s obvious Krispy Kreme is not for someone looking to make healthier food choices.
