We had to do a triple take when we saw the picture Tim McGraw recently posted on his social media, as he looked absolutely unrecognizable! The 54-year-old award-winning country music star totally shocked fans when he posted a picture of himself holding a pumpkin on October 31st, sporting an exceptionally full beard that completely covered the bottom part of his face. The Louisiana native’s shocking appearance is, according to the musician and actor himself, for his current role of James Dutton in the Yellowstone spinoff, 1883, which also stars his wife, 54-year-old fellow country music star Faith Hill, as Margaret Dutton.
“Happy Halloween from Montana!” McGraw captioned the photo; but fans weren’t interested in Halloween, instead choosing to flood the comments section with messages about his appearance. “I almost didn’t recognize you with such a full beard,” wrote one fan. “What’s with that shaggy beard?!” questioned another, while another fan complimented his transformation for the role, saying, “You do wear Dutton well, Tim, just like Kevin said.” “MY TIM WITH A FULL BEARDD” wrote another fan, who clearly loved the new look judging by the comment, which also featured four red heart emojis.

However, many other fans didn’t hide the fact that they want the Grammy winner to go back to his more clean-shaven appearance, with someone writing, “I must say, I like you beardless better,” and many other similar comments following, including one fan who joked, “Beard gotta go lol.” McGraw addressed the beard comments directly, confirming everyone’s suspicions that the beard was just for his new role, and perhaps seemingly suggesting that it will be gone when filming has finished. Tim commented on his own post and wrote: “Just so ya know The beard is for #1883.” We’re glad he cleared that up!
According to a press release, “1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.” 1883 will premiere on December 19th – we can’t wait!
