Many celebrities have made their feelings on Donald Trump very known, whether they say it outright (Rosie O’Donnell, for example), attribute their emigration from America to Europe to him (Ellen DeGeneres, for example), or let their distaste for him be known a little more passively, for example, Tom Cruise. The Mission Impossible star reportedly declined a major Kennedy Center Award from the current president. Keep reading for more information.
Tom Cruise Declines Honor From Donald Trump
Last week, Trump announced the honorees for Kennedy Center Awards, which are lifetime achievement awards that honor creative intelligence. According to The Washington Post, Trump had reportedly wanted to reveal Cruise, KISS, Michael Crawford, George Strait, Sylvester Stallone, and Gloria Gaynor as nominees. But, the publication reported that Cruise's team declined an invitation to the ceremony (which isn't until December!) due to scheduling conflicts.
Whether the reasoning is true or not—Cruise could be planing ahead for his Top Gun 3 filming schedule—the message is clear: Tom Cruise has no interest in accepting an award from President Donald Trump. This wouldn't even be the first time Trump has been snubbed like this: back in 2017, Norman Lear declined to attend the White House Gala that came with the award to protest Trump's policies.

Social Media Reactions
Whatever Tom Cruise's reasoning is, fans are certainly happy with him. On Twitter, now X, many users are applauding the star for snubbing the president, who is the first president to ever hold office with felony convictions. "This is [Tom's] best move to show the real him," one person wrote.
"Good for Tom Cruise to not take an award from a convicted rapist," another agreed.
"Imagine being so unpopular, even Scientologists want nothing to do with you," a third person pointed out. "That exactly describes Donald Trump, if Tom Cruise's snub is anything to go by."
"Cruise may have just earned back a little more of my respect with this decision!" one person tweeted. "I'm happy to see that he has the courage and dignity to stand up and against the felon in our White House!"
"Tom Cruise rejects life time achievement award from felon, for obvious reasons that true Americans can easily understand, enthusiastically support and loudly applaud," another post reads.
"Good on Tom!" a final fan cheered.
