Frozen fruit can be a great item to keep stocked in your fridge and add to all of your healthy smoothies. Unfortunately though, anyone who has recently bought frozen fruit from Trader Joe’s should be aware that one popular product has recently been recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

That’s right: The cult-favorite store announced a voluntary recall of their Organic Tropical Fruit Blend on June 22 due to Sunrise Growers Inc.’s frozen pineapple recall. This comes on the heels of another frozen fruit recall that happened last March due to possible Hepatitis A contamination—bad year for smoothie lovers! Read on for all the info.

Trader Joe's Organic Tropical Fruit Blend recalled for potential Listeria contamination

Trader Joe's shoppers who recently purchased a bag of Organic Tropical Fruit Blend should check the "best by" dates and lot numbers in order to determine if they have a potentially impacted product.

Affected products will be labeled with the following "best by" dates:

  • 1/30/24
  • 01/31/24
  • 02/01/24
  • 02/02/24
  • 02/03/24

As well as the following lot numbers:

  • B22098297
  • C20171035
  • C20450103
  • C20511124

If your bag(s) fits one of these descriptions, Trader Joe's urges you not to eat the fruit and to discard it or return it to the store for a full refund instead.

Luckily, no illnesses have been linked to these products at this point. However, listeria infection can be very serious. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headaches, stiff neck, confusion, and even seizures in severe cases. It's certainly better to be safe than sorry!

If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact the Trader Joe's Customer Relations by calling 626-599-3817.

All in all, it's always important to stay on top of recalls in order to look out for your health.

Other recent recalls include Tostito's Avocado Salsa and more.
