When it comes to eye makeup, most women tend to stick to neutral colors. Warm tans, browns, and light peachy colors are often thought to be the way to go. Smokey eye makeup is too dramatic–not to mention messy–and bright colors can end up looking clownish.

However, those neutral hues may be working against you, not in your favor. In fact, the most flattering eyeshadow shade that actually makes you look younger isn’t neutral at all!

Pink, orange, and coral-hued eyeshadows are known for being universally flattering on every age and skin tone. The bright shades can help you look modern and fresh-faced. Vibrant, yet soft colors around your eyes will give off the appearance of youthfulness and even make you appear more awake.

If the idea of wearing pink, orange, or coral hues on your face scare you, don’t let it put you off completely. With a light hand, start experimenting with a single soft tangerine or blush pink color on your lid. Dab it on with your finger or using an eyeshadow brush and keep the pigment subtle. Just like that, one and done, you’ll be out the door with eyeshadow perfection. Once you get more comfortable with the look, you can blend more than one eyeshadow shade together for a look that really pops!

Try the fun shade out for yourself using one of these pretty eyeshadow palettes.
