Shopping at Walgreens will be a little bit different from now on.

The pharmacy chain announced some major changes to it’s store hours and policies in light of the COVID-19 outbreak–and honestly, we are so here for it! The new policies are aimed at keeping guests and employees more safe during these uncertain times.

Customers are urged to be aware of these big changes before heading to the store! What are they?

The hours have changed. Walgreens stores nationwide have adjusted their operating hours for the outbreak.

"To better support its store team members during the COVID-19 pandemic, while also continuing to meet the needs of customers and communities, Walgreens has adjusted its operating hours," the company said via a special COVID landing page on their website.

The new hours will be 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. weekdays and weekends--including the 24-hour stores! So, if you were relying on your local 24-hour store--say if you are a health care worker doing the night shift yourself--be advised that you will no longer be able to visit the store between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m. in your time zone. Some stores might even have shorter operating hours!

Luckily, the pharmacy hours on weekends will largely remain the same, the website explains.

The most important thing you can do-especially if you are relying on the store for an important prescription--is to use the chain's store locator to find out when your location will be open.

On the plus side, the pharmacy drive-thru will remain open 24 hours and pickup of other select products will also be available at drive-thru!

This is huge. You can now get the benefit of the pharmacy's convenient round the clock drive-thru assistance at one of their 7,300 locations--but for items like cleaning supplies and even food. Amazing!

The store announced via release that more than 60 items are currently available for purchase at the drive-thru, including household essentials like cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, pain relief, grocery items, infant formula, first aid and medical supplies, and more. This is amazing!

As long as there isn't a line at the drive-thru window, the pharmacy technicians can assist you with these items from the safety of your vehicle!

Additionally, like many other stores, Walgreens will be offering special seniors-only store hours on Tuesdays at 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. During this hour, seniors and their caregivers and immediate family members can shop the store before the public. Customers over 55 will even receive 30% off Walgreens brands and 20% off everything else. Amazing!

Lastly, the chain announced that it would be installing protective plastic shields in stores at places like the register to help reduce or eliminate virus exposure, per the CDC recommendations. This is great!
