While Wendy’s does offer a breakfast menu, it seems that the chain is more praised on social media lately for their sandwiches, burgers, Frostys and french fries. The fast food giant launched a new item for breakfast back in August, the ‘Homestyle French Toast Sticks with Syrup Dip.’ While several publications have reported since then that the menu option is popular among some customers, online, it appears that many Wendy’s fans think Burger King‘s similar sticks are, as one fan recently tweeted, “WAY better.”

At the time of the french toast sticks unveiling, Carl Loredo, Wendy’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release, “Our Homestyle French Toast Sticks strike a perfect note of nostalgia and bring even more morning flavor to our menu — this time with something sweet.” He went on, adding, “From day one, we launched our breakfast offering to save fans from the boring and bland morning options that exist at some of our competitors, and we’ve done just that.”

As noted by Eat This, Not That, in a recent Wendy’s company report, Wendy’s credited this very item with driving a “meaningful acceleration” in breakfast sales, and executives said that this sweet treat is even helping Wendy’s locations reach weekly sales that are close to the company’s goal of $3,000 in the mornings.
