Wendy’s, while originally intended as a famous burger place, is super well known for their tasty chicken sandwiches that have stood out from the rest of the popular fast food burger joints. However, their reputation as both a delicious chicken and hamburger restaurant is beginning to dwindle.
Fast food customers are reeling after one Wendy’s eater shared a photo of their spicy chicken sandwich on Reddit, which was part of an $8 meal and looked very disappointing due to how “flat” it was. The user’s post quickly went viral, as other Wendy’s customers expressed their distaste with the restaurant lately, primarily due to the food shrinking in size while the prices go up or stay the same. A Wendy's Customer Goes Viral After Posting A Picture Of Their Small Spicy Chicken Sandwich On Reddit
Wendy's originally began as a fast food joint where people could get a decent-sized, hearty burger and a special cup of chili, and it evolved into a massive chain with various options, including crispy chicken nuggets and sandwiches. People have become big fans of the chain's chicken products over the years, with its peppery, crispy coating and flavor combinations. For instance, their spicy chicken nuggets have gone viral several times.
However, like many fast food restaurants in the last few years, customers at Wendy's have noticed that the quality and size of their food have begun to slip, as prices have gone up. It's a part of the "shrinkflation" concept, which many fast food chains have been accused of in the last few years.
One Wendy's customer went viral in the famous 'shrinkflation' Reddit thread, after sharing a picture of the Spicy Chicken Sandwich they claimed to pay $8 for off their main menu, likely buying it as part of a combo meal. The sandwich was visibly small, with a rather thin-looking chicken patty.
"Just had my first Wendy's spicy chicken in a year, this patty used to be twice the size," wrote the Reddit user. "I can't imagine what the 'value' crispy chicken sandwich looks like if this is the premium one. I feel robbed."

Reddit Users React To The 'Flat' Chicken Sandwich In The Comments Section
Once the picture of the rather wimpy chicken sandwich went viral, it sparked a conversation amongst Wendy's customers, both current and former, who were ready to complain about how the popular chain has slipped over the years, making them believe it's not worth stopping in for a meal anymore.
"A true fall from grace," wrote a Reddit user.
One customer joked, "When you get a chicken flatty instead of a chicken patty," as another wrote that the sandwich looked more like a "spicy chicken slider."
"I had one the other day and it was thin, dry, and nasty," wrote an angry customer. "They used to be so good, not anymore."
"The chicken patty is so thin nowadays," agreed a Reddit user.
While Wendy's has yet to address the controversy surrounding their chicken patties, it looks like if they keep things up with these small portion sizes and growing prices, they could lose a few customers who used to be faithful in the next few years.
