The internet was shocked when former BFFs Elon Musk and Donald Trump started feuding, after the Tesla founder called the president’s “big, beautiful” spending bill “a disgusting abomination.” Since then, Musk declared on X that he is no longer a supporter of the current POTUS, while Trump, for his part, claimed that he has “no intention” of speaking to “disrespectful” Musk ever again due to his comments.
However, some people believed that the feud wasn’t actually real, and was merely a “distraction” for other things the Trump administration is doing. And Whoopi Goldberg, who isn’t afraid to voice her opinions about Trump, appears to be one of those people!
Whoopi Goldberg Discusses The Elon Musk-Donald Trump Fallout On ‘The View’
The Musk-Trump fallout was discussed in depth during the Hot Topics segment of Monday’s episode of The View, with the EGOT winner slamming people – including her co-hosts – for believing that the feud was real.
“I love that you all bought into it,” she said on the show, before confirming that she does “believe it’s fake” and something to divert the public’s attention away from the president’s other actions.
When co-host Sunny Hostin asked her to elaborate on why she felt that way, the Sister Act alum said: "It's too strategic." She went on: "This is another distraction to keep us talking not about the stuff we're talking about, but the stuff they want us to."
"I'm not buying it. I don't buy it, because they love to lie all day," the often-controversial star continued, adding: "I don't believe anything they say anymore. They have shown themselves not to be the most trustworthy people."

Internet Reactions
"Whoopi Goldberg has been saying a lot of things that make sense lately and it's getting spooky," wrote one X user, which makes a change from the usual backlash Goldberg faces from the internet. "This is probably close to the truth," thought a second.
A third X user wrote: "Not often you hear Whoopi say what the internet's been thinking for months. Every feud's a headline, and every headline is a distraction." "Wow. First time I've ever agreed with her. It was definitely staged," concurred a fourth.
"I'm conservative, I have zero respect for Whoopi Goldberg! I do think she is right on this," echoed a fifth, as a sixth chimed in: "I do think it was at least partly staged. With all the pressure on Elon and Tesla, I think he wanted to distance himself from Trump to cool things down. Just a thought."
