Dairy

You definitely want to avoid eating any dairy products before you go on a date, according to The Nutrition Twins, Lyssie Lakatos, RDN, CDN, CFT and Tammy Lakatos Shames, RDN, CDN, CFT.

"As we age, our bodies all make less lactase, the enzyme that breaks down the lactose found in dairy products," they said. "With less lactase, we all are more susceptible to gas, diarrhea, and bloating that’s caused by dairy products." So, definitely stay away from the cheese plate before you go on your date!

Garlic

The Nutrition Twins suggest avoiding garlic within 24 hours of your date. Apparently, the smell of garlic can linger in your body for 24 hours, even if you've brushed your teeth and showered.

If you find yourself munching on something garlicky before the date, try eating apples or parsley, which are known breath fresheners.

Fast food

Greasy fast food is never a good idea to munch on before going on a hot date, says celebrity nutritionist Lisa DeFazio, MS, RDN. These foods cause indigestion and will make you feel sluggish the rest of the day.

Junk food

Junk food should deifnitely be avoided before going on a big date! Fatty foods can take up to eight hours to digest, and the amount of energy it takes to break down these foods will cause you to feel tired and lacking any energy.
