If you have a gluten allergy, full-blown celiac disease, or just avoid gluten for the plethora of health-related reasons, you probably know that the gluten-free food market has really blown up in recent years. There are gluten-free bagels, pasta, energy bars and even cookies. But which of these gluten-free products can actually make you gain weight? These are the ones to avoid if you're trying to shed a few.

Gluten-Free Cookies

Gluten free cookies are just as bad for your waistline as their gluten-containing counterparts. Some, like Lucy's Chocolate Chip Cookies, have as many as 16 grams of sugar. Others, like Glow Gluten-Free Gingersnap Cookies, contain as much as fat as 10 Chicken McNuggets! Yikes. If you have a sweet craving, remember that fruit is naturally gluten free.

Gluten-Free Everything Bagels

Gluten free salt and everything bagels, like Udi's, contain a lot of salt to make them taste good--almost 500 grams! They are not the best breakfast option for a weight loss plan. Opt for something with more protein, such as eggs, along with a cup of greens for fiber.

Gluten-Free Mac and Cheese

Gluten free mac and cheese dishes, like Amy's rice version which contains as much fat as 9 chocolate chip cookies, or Horizon's which is high in sodium, are not good options for a weight loss plan.

Gluten-Free Protein Bars

Gluten free protein bars contain way too much sugar (Larabar Coconut Cream Bar has 24 grams!) and not enough fiber to offset it. Plus, an enitre protein bar is too much for one sitting. For a weight loss plan, eat five small meals--none of which should be a protein bar substitute.
