Zac Efron has always been one of Hollywood’s most handsome stars, but the 33-year-old actor recently appeared in a Facebook Watch special with Bill Nye to celebrate Earth Day, and fans were surprised to see just how much his face has changed. Efron has been known for his passion for wellness and working out, but his new face looks like he potentially did more than simply gain muscle.

Efron, who still looked as handsome as always, took to Facebook Watch to show off a visibly puffier pout and square jawline, prompting questions of plastic surgery and steroids as fans speculated on exactly what the actor had changed. While his face appeared bloated and tight in the video, Efron then posted an image to Instagram where he looked virtually the same as he always had. So was it just a fluke?

Plastic surgeon and TikTok star Dr. Anthony Youn weighed in with his two cents on the jarring change, sharing that from a professional standpoint he did not believe Efron had gotten any plastic surgery done. “Has he had plastic surgery to reshape his jawline? I don’t think so. I actually think he’s had dental surgery, not plastic surgery. That’s why he’s swollen in those areas. If you had your wisdom teeth taken out, did you look like this?”
However, dermatologist Dr. Muneeb Shah shared with Insider, “It does appear that his jaw, chin, and lips are more prominent. A few things can give this appearance: implants, dermal filler, or even the results of steroid / HGH use. Some people even speculate that he had dental surgery, which I think is much less likely.”
Regardless of if and what Efron has gotten done, the 33-year-old actor still looks as handsome as ever and appears to be living his best life in Australia following a breakup with his girlfriend of just under a year, Vanessa Valladeres. Efron moved to Byron Bay at the beginning of the pandemic, and is now gearing up to film season 2 of his popular Netflix series ‘Down To Earth.’
