The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

In 2017, we saw all kinds of trendy hairstyles, cuts, colors and complete hair transformations. The winter season, in particular, brought about some pretty amazing food-inspired hair trends including Mulled Wine Hair, deep red and purple strands with pops of gold and pink. There was also the Cider & Spice Hair trend, a mix of strawberry blonde and brunette highlighted strands. But, if dark wine and spiced cider isn’t your thing and you’re more into soft hues and pastel colors, you’ll definitely want to consider what we think will be this year’s hottest hair trend: Marshmallow Hair!

Marshmallow hair is a beautiful blend of white, gray, and platinum blonde hair. Highlights of pastel pink, purple, or blue can be added for magical hues that resemble the unicorn hair trend.

Other than the colors, its the voluminous, cascading locs of hair that makes this hairstyle resemble fluffy marshmallows. It’s the perfect wintry hairstyle that will make you look like a snow princess this season!

Most people dread getting their first gray hair, resorting to dark dyes to cover up the sign of aging. But grandmas are not the only ones rocking grey hair now! “While white hair used to be reserved for the likes of your Nan, cool kids are flocking to show off their light colored locks on social media and the likes just keep on flooding in,” The Sun reports.

“The craze has been prompted by the latest advances in hair care, and a newly launched L’Oréal Professionnel conditioner called Smartbond, which allows stars to keep their hair long, despite having it bleached,” the Daily Mail reports. “Ask your salon to give you a glaze after your pre-lightener to achieve a cool icy finish,” L’Oréal Professionnel colorist Jack Howard tells the Daily Mail. “‘DIA Light’ is semi-permanent and will give an icy shade to your hair.”

Siobhan Jones, a colorist at Headmasters, also chimed in on how to achieve the perfect icy-grey shade. “Anyone wishing to go this color must be aware that lightening your hair to this tone can weaken it, so the best products must be used to keep the hair healthy. Ask your in-salon colorist to check the sensitivity of your hair before you go ahead,” the Jones tells Glamour.  “I use L’Oréal Professionnel Platinum plus pre-lightener which is great as it contains beeswax which conditions the hair whilst lifting.”

Tons of A-list celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Pink have also tried out the grey, marshmallow hair trend. Most recently, we have seen Kim Kardashian rocking cascading white waves instead of her natural brunette hair.

We know you are so in love with this icy, winter hairstyle now! But, marshmallow hair is a huge commitment and requires a lot of upkeep to keep the colors vibrant. “Tread gently with an ice-cool blonde rinsed with a silver toner, or take the plunge with all-over grey; speak to your stylist to talk about maintenance and condition though, as a bleached-out grey mane can be difficult to maintain,” Glamour reports.
