There are jacket versions for the office, sweater capelets for weekend wear and outerwear options more on-trend than that old pashmina.
Make sure your layers are simple and lightweight; not frilly and fussy. Wear slim pants or pencil skirts to balance out the volume and bulk of the cape. A hip-length cape can camouflage big busts or thick-ish waists, but watch where it cuts your torso.
