Your Tireless Open-Toe Boot Quest Becomes My Good Question

image
From the SheFinds Forums: I am looking for a pair of black, open toed, stiletto heeled boots Cameron Diaz wears in the film In Her Shoes. They reach the mid-calf, and have a small silver buckle on the side of the foot.

Answer:
Ladies, there are so many message boards devoted to finding these boots! So far, we know that the costume stylist on the set of the 2005 film used a rental company to supply that particular pair of peeptoe boots, but since we don't have a designer name and it's been three years, it might be time to start looking for something similar but just as sexy. Luckily for all you In Her Shoes-ophiles, peeptoe boots are actually a trend this summer.

Which leads me to ask my own Good Question: Are peeptoe boots really something you'd wear? For summer?

Don't get me wrong, I love me some peeptoes, especially in the summer when I've actually shelled out for a pedi. And I live in my boots in the winter. But a hybrid? I'm not so sure. The ArdenB nylon boots above ($30) look like pantyhose gone awry (that's what happens when you try to stick your already-stiletto-clad foot into a pair of delicate nylons!) and Martin Margiela's open-toe knee boots ($945) are like the product of a science experiment (and a very expensive one, at that) where two seasons' worth of shoes were stuck in a blender and put on puree.

I could actually, maybe get behind Chloé's patent leather shoe-boots ($451) since they're a little lower and are on par with the ankle-high S&M-ish gladiator sandals that are so cute with flowey dresses. But boots designed for summer, like Nine West's white mid-calf Hastings boots ($64) and Martinez Valero's giraffe-and-lime Wilder booties ($175)? I just don't get it.

And intricate suede pairs, like Steve Madden's buckled-and-laced Bombb boots ($150) and Givenchy's lace-ups ($639) just seem impractical. Suede isn't a summer-friendly material, and goodness knows stepping open-toe first into a big slushy puddle isn't my idea of a wintery good time.

So what gives, seekers of the Elusive Cameron Diaz Peeptoe Boots? Hip me to the hotness of this open-toe boots-in-the-summer trend. And for goodness sake, if anyone has found the actual boots from the movie, please let all of us know!

I live in Texas and if the Cowboys and Cowgirls can wear their boots all year long, so can I. And I see stars like Angelina Jolie and Mary J. Blige wearing knee boots all the time. I think it depends on how bold a person is and how much a person cares about what other people think.

I have one leg and usually use crutches with a 4″ stiletto heel. I love to wear a very nude sandal that shows all of my toes. I hate pumps with peep toes BUT there is something about the open toe boots that Cameron Diaz wore that just fascinates me. I would wear it in the spring and fall saving summer for a nude sandal.
