The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

How many times have you been standing at a bar talking to a friend and mindlessly munching on bar nuts in front of you? The salty snack is usually a nice complement to a refreshing drink. Most people think it’s pretty harmless to pop a few peanuts from the bowl at the bar into their mouths. However, similar to why you shouldn’t eat the bread at restaurants, there’s a scary reason you should always avoid bar nuts.

It turns out, that little bowl of bar nuts is actually full of germs. According to Reader’s Digest, since bar nuts and other munchies are free of charge, restaurants and bars often don’t set out a fresh serving for each new customer. Which means you’re basically eating from a stranger’s hand. Sure, you might wash your hands after you go to the bathroom, but it’s a disgusting truth that not everyone shares this sanitary habit. Even if the bartender hands you a fresh bowl they just poured, be wary. At closing time, bar nuts are often dumped back into the container and re-poured into the bowls the next day.

Do you know the reason bars put out bowls of salty snacks in the first place? Pretzels, chips, and nuts all serve the same purpose. Salty munchies are great for business because they make customers thirsty, which means they order more drinks. You might think it’s nice that the bar is providing a free snack, but it’s actually just a ploy to keep you drinking. To avoid germs and save money, always avoid bowls of bar snacks.
