So I’m just going to come right out and say it…I never clean my tweezers. I mean, I do just not a lot, which is basically the same as never. This is actually surprising because I’m such a germaphobe, but it’s just one of those things I never clean. It got me thinking about how often a person should be cleaning their tweezers. Here’s the answer!

First things first, you should always use stainless steel tweezers so the metal (like nickel) doesn’t irritate your skin. A great option is the Tweezerman Mini Slant Tweezer ($14) because they are compact and good quality.

After doing my research, I realized I was being a horrible person by not cleaning my tweezers. Did you know you’re supposed to clean them after every single use?! Here’s the deal. The reason they need to be cleaned after every use is to avoid bacteria buildup and to keep them in the best shape so they work properly. The people over at Tweezerman “recommend using isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball or single-use alcohol wipes found in most drug stores.”
