The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

Bralettes can be a confusing piece of clothing–like, is it a bra or crop top? We’re not entirely sure, but we do know it’s perfect for this hot season we’re smack dab in the middle of. So we thought it was about time to explain how to wear one the right way. Let us break it down for you:

When you first think of summer, ‘layering’ probably doesn’t come to mind. But some bralettes, like Free People‘s, are cool and strappy which is fun to show off with a plain tank top, or dress. They are also convenient when you need to cover up if a shirt is too see-through or your bra is showing too much. Sometimes, they can even be used as bras! That is, if your cup size is small enough.

The second way to wear a bralette is simply as a shirt. But when doing this, you need to be very careful it doesn’t look trashy. Usually, when women wear bralettes as shirts they are longer than a normal ones, and are best to wear under a cute jacket, or with high-waist bottoms like skirts or shorts. Take a look at this slideshow to see different bralettes that can be worn on their own, or to layer.

Check out other summer items like white sandals, beach towels, and denim cutoff shorts.
