A royal wedding is supposed to be a romantic and elegant event, one that’s truly for the books. However, reported details that just surfaced reveal that Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana’s wedding was far from perfect behind-the-scenes.

A recently released documentary about Princess Diana on Britain’s television network ITV shows that her relationship with Prince Charles was rocky even on the night before their big wedding day.

As reported by PEOPLE, the documentary named, The Diana Interview: Revenge of a Princess, includes an interview with an astrologer consulted by Diana, Penny Thorton. And Thorton certainly didn’t hold back when she shared shocking details from Diana’s experience just moments before officially joining the royal family.
"One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was that the night before the wedding Charles told her that he didn't love her," Thornton says in the documentary, PEOPLE reports. "I think Charles didn't want to go into the wedding on a false premise. He wanted to square it with her and it was devastating for Diana."
In an even more shocking turn of events, Thornton further revealed that Diana didn’t want to have a wedding at that point and that she considered not attending the wedding at all. Yikes!
Despite the drama, the pair did in fact marry on July 29, 1981, but they would only stay together until 1992 after having two sons together, Prince William in 1982 and Prince Harry in 1984. Three years following their separation, Diana did a BBC interview where she said that both she and Prince Charles had affairs throughout their marriage. One of which was Prince Charles’ relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowels, who is now his current wife.
