American Idol fans are calling for Katy Perry to be fired as a judge, as she is “no longer a fan favorite” according to one Twitter user, with many others sharing similar opinions on the social media platform. As much as we adore the 38-year-old “Harleys in Hawaii” singer, we can’t say that this is hugely surprising, as she has faced criticism from fans on a number of different occasions this season, including the time she got booed by the audience for criticizing contestant Nutsa’s outfit, and the time she was branded a bully after being accused of ‘mom-shaming’ 25-year-old hopeful Sara Beth Liebe.

Some Fans Want Alanis Morissette To Permanently Replace Katy Perry On 'American Idol'
Both Katy and fellow judge Lionel Richie, 73, were missing from the show a few weeks ago, as they were across the pond attending and performing at King Charles' coronation. (How could we forget – Katy's lilac Vivienne Westwood ensemble that she wore to Westminster Abbey lives rent free in our minds!)
However, fans seemed to get a little too comfortable with Katy's replacement, Alanis Morissette, who mentored the show's top eight along with Richie's temporary replacement, Ed Sheeran. They have since called for the 48-year-old "Ironic" singer to become a permanent judge and replace the "Roar" singer for good! Yikes!
Viewers saw the top eight contestants singing songs by either the 32-year-old "Eyes Closed" singer or the "Thank U" hitmaker as a way of celebrating the guest judges. It was an extremely enjoyable show, we must admit, and many social media users then took it upon themselves to ask for the "You Oughta Know" songstress to become a permanent addition to the singing competition and "permanently replace" the "I Kissed a Girl" singer.

"I hope Alanis comes back, Katy is no longer a fan favorite," one person bluntly wrote on Twitter, while another even blunter fan exclaimed: "Fire Katy! We want Alanis!" Idol viewers sure aren’t shy about voicing their opinions on social media!
"Can we leave Katy in the UK and keep Alanis?" another fan asked, while another said: "Alanis’s music is making me like ppl I never had any opinion on previously! Her music is making people BETTER! No offense but I’m so glad Katy Perry isn’t there to be annoying."

Many other fans were seemingly less critical of the "Dark Horse" singer, yet made no secret of the fact that they loved Alanis on the show! "Loved seeing you on the show! You were a great mentor and loved your solo performance!" exclaimed one Alanis fan. "I’ve always enjoyed your music, but watching you on American Idol and seeing how much you cared about these kids and how wonderful you were with them was awesome," complimented another fan, adding, "You seem like a very genuine person and you don’t see that much these days! Thanks for being you!" Another fan said: "Loved hearing your music and great job mentoring and judging. They should have you on all the time!"
