The right diet, including the best hot drinks for weight loss, can kickstart fat burning almost as well as a half hour run around the track. And when it comes to getting flat abs, the old saying “abs are made in the kitchen” apples to both food AND metabolism-boosting beverages.

As always, the trick is finding evidence-backed foods and beverages that have been proven to speed up your metabolism and aid with weight loss — and even stubborn belly fat. And this one drink is among the best: this is the one anti-inflammatory hot drink that basically flushes belly fat for a smaller stomach, according to nutritionists.

Green Tea

Out of all of the hot drinks you can enjoy, one stands out because it is backed by several studies that have actually proven it can boost your metabolism and help with your weight loss goals: green tea.

Green tea is bursting with catechins, which are antioxidants that increase fat burning and a process called thermogenesis, which prompts your body to burn calories. It also contains just enough caffeine (though not as much as black tea or coffee) to give your metabolism a kickstart in the morning.

According to Healthline: “A review of 14 studies found that people who drank high-concentration green tea for 12 weeks lost an average of 0.44 to 7.7 pounds (0.2 to 3.5 kg) more than those who did not drink green tea.”

People who regularly consume green tea have even been found to have lower blood pressure and risk of diabetes and heart disease compared with those who don’t drink green tea.

If you’re already drinking enough green tea and would love a variation on the drink — one that still contains plenty of antioxidants, try matcha green tea.

“Matcha is a type of green tea that contains a higher amount of catechins than loose leaf green tea, which makes it a good choice for weight loss,” reports Healthline. “One study found that women who consumed 3 grams of matcha per day experienced greater fat burning during exercise compared to women who did not drink matcha.”

If those tea types simply aren’t your cup of tea, other hot beverages that are effective at helping with weight loss include coffee, apple cider vinegar drinks, and other varieties of tea like black and ginger tea.

No matter which drink you choose, adding a metabolism-boosting hot beverage to your morning routine is soothing, satisfying, and supportive of your weight loss goals.
