Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis made a surprise appearance on the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday, January 11. However, fans on social media weren’t quick to forget the couple’s past controversies.

Making a glamorous return to the awards circuit after years away, the Black Swan actress wore a strapless black-and-white patterned Carolina Herrera gown featuring a corseted bodice and a voluminous tea-length skirt. She styled her dark hair parted to one side and tucked neatly behind her ears, accessorizing with Boucheron jewelry and Aquazzura heels.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis Attend The Golden Globes

The Punk'd star opted for a classic black suit paired with a black shirt, tie, and shoes. The duo were seen packing on the PDA and sharing sweet moments as they posed for photos.

The couple reportedly attended the event to present an award and support the ceremony, with some sources suggesting the appearance was part of an effort to reignite their careers following a period of fan backlash.

TikTok users flooded Vogue's comment section to weigh in on the couple’s controversial outing.

“lol the wholesome act gets real embarrassing now that they’re confirmed to support rapists,” one user wrote.

Another added, “are we forgetting Ashton Kutcher hung out with Diddy?”

A third commented, “she's so beautiful it makes me so sad that she supports such a horrible person.”

“They’ve been real quiet since the diddy documentaries started coming out with the pictures with him in some of them,” another user observed.

“You can just tell they feel awkward,” noted a fifth.

Someone else said, “They have ALOT of nerve showing their faces on that carpet.”

A few fans came to their defense, with one writing, “We are NOT going to cancel Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis for supporting someone they thought they knew for 25 years. People have hidden lives.”

Another commented, “People making a big deal over absolutely nothing is hilarious. I love Mila and Ashton.”

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis' Past Controversies

Kutcher and Kunis faced significant public backlash in September 2023 after writing character letters supporting their That '70s Show co-star, Danny Masterson, ahead of his sentencing for rape. The controversy prompted the couple to issue apologies, led to Kutcher resigning from Thorn—the anti-child sex abuse organization he co-founded—and sparked renewed scrutiny of their past, including their ties to Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In 2023, Masterson was convicted of raping two women in 2003 and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. The pair had written letters to Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo requesting leniency, which the public interpreted as supporting a convicted rapist. Many saw this as especially hypocritical given Kutcher’s work with Thorn. In an Instagram video, the couple apologized for the “pain” caused, explaining that their letters were intended to reflect the person they knew over 25 years, not to undermine the victims.

The fallout didn’t end there. Following the Masterson scandal, the pair faced further criticism over their past association with Sean “Diddy” Combs aka P. Diddy, who has since faced legal troubles, including arrest on sex trafficking and other charges.

Despite the controversies, the duo, who have been married since 2015, are gradually returning to the public eye. Mila recently starred in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, while Kutcher leads the FX/Hulu sci-fi thriller The Beauty, premiering January 21. He plays a tech billionaire behind a deadly beauty drug with terrifying side effects, marking his first major role since the backlash surrounding the Masterson case.
