Barack and Michelle Obama just stepped out in public together in NYC after rumors began circulating that they were getting a divorce. Still, internet users aren’t so convinced they look happy together.
The famous couple stepped out for a romantic date night in New York City not long after the former First Lady had to shut down rumors that they were getting a divorce in a podcast interview. Numerous people have expressed that they miss seeing them in politics and, therefore, have been keeping an eye on their marriage since they left the White House. However, during their recent date, some internet users pointed out that they didn’t look too thrilled with each other.

Since leaving the White House in 2017, the Obamas have been giving only a small bit of insight into their 'post-presidential' lives. After taking some much-needed vacations and diving into other projects, they haven't been photographed out and about together as much in the last year.
Some rumors began to circulate about their relationship and a potential split after the Becoming author did not attend certain public events alongside her husband, including current President Donald J. Trump's inauguration earlier this year. However, Michelle acknowledged those rumors and shut them down during an episode of her and her brother's podcast, IMO, where she opened up about why she had skipped the political event.
"My decision to skip the inauguration – or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me – were met with such ridicule and criticism," she said.
"People couldn't believe that I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume that my marriage was falling apart. I'm here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me."
Earlier this month, the mom-of-two gave another interview, where she said on the podcast, The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, that "everybody would know" if she and her husband were having marital problems and that they refused to simply "quit" their relationship.
Then, finally, after several months of not being photographed together, paparazzi took pictures of them out and about and dressed to the nines in NYC for a date night on Tuesday, May 27th. Photographers captured them having dinner at the restaurant inside the Lowell Hotel.
Michelle wore a chic, slightly sheer, long ruffled dress, and high heels while Barack had on a fitted black suit.

Once the power couple was 'papped' by photographers, several photos of them were released to media outlets and social media platforms, and the internet began buzzing.
Numerous fans and supporters of the couple were happy to see them spending time together amidst all the chaotic accusations surrounding their relationship.
"Beautiful couple," wrote a fan on Instagram. "Love them both."
"The best presidential couple," added another.
However, some people weren't all too convinced that the new photos were a sure sign the Obamas were doing well behind the scenes, especially because the former president wasn't smiling in some of the snaps that went viral.
"He's not looking too happy," wrote an Instagram user under the date night photos.
"Why aren't they walking together?" asked another.
"He doesn't look happy," noted another.
While we're not exactly sure what went down during the Obamas' date night, it seems that Michelle is continuing to do her best to assure their supporters that they're doing just fine, no matter what others may think.
