Carlos Santana told fans that he is “good” and “taking it easy” after passing out on stage during a concert at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan on Tuesday, July 5th.
“Thank you for your precious prayers,” the 74-year-old guitarist wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, July 6th. “Cindy and I we are good just taking it easy,” he added, in reference to his wife Cindy Blackman, 62, who he married back in 2010. He then went on to say that dehydration was the main cause of his fainting, telling fans that he “forgot to eat and drink water,” and was so “dehydrated” he “passed out.” He concluded his message by writing, “Blessings and miracles to you all,” which is also coincidentally the name of his latest album which was released in October last year.
Santana's rep, Michael Vrionis, also confirmed that dehydration was what caused the musician to pass out, saying that he was "overtaken by heat exhaustion and dehydration" during the show. "Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well," the statement also said.
Understandably, Vrionis went on to say that some of Santana's shows that were due to take place this month have been postponed "out of an abundance of caution for the artist’s health." The first show that is still on track to go ahead as planned is the one in Paso Robles, California on July 23rd. "Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs rest," Vrionis added. "Doctors have recommended that Mr. Santana gets rest to recuperate fully." Get well soon!
