Donald Trump, like many affluent men, has always taken great pride in playing golf and boasting about his skills on the green, given that he owns his own golf courses. However, in footage released from one of his recent rounds in Scotland, the internet is convinced they’ve caught him cheating.
A clip of the president playing golf on a course he opened in Scotland recently went viral, as upon closer inspection, it appears that he was caught cheating, with one of his aides discreetly giving him a leg-up in the game. Once the clip was posted on various social media platforms, internet users and golf enthusiasts alike could not get over it, as it was a clear sign that he’s a man who is quite literally used to having things handed to him. Footage Of Donald Trump Seemingly Cheating During A Game Of Golf Goes Viral On Social Media
At the end of July, Donald played a round of golf during his visit to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where he revealed he had opened a golf course. He reportedly spent several days at his luxury golf properties, including his newly renovated course in Aberdeenshire. His trip wasn't just about golf, as the president also met with UK leaders and accepted a special gift honoring his family's Scottish roots. While some of his loyal fans praised the visit, critics showed up in protest, making it clear that Trump's presence in the country still sparks strong reactions on both sides.
News outlets filmed his golf session, and in one clip of his game, he can be seen cruising around in a golf cart. Before he gets out to take his next swing, one of his caddies, without turning around or bending down, subtly drops a white golf ball at a convenient location, presumably to give him a better hit than where his previous stroke landed. Then, he casually gets out of the golf cart and takes a swing.
The overall vibe of the video was that one of his caddies was trying to fly under the radar while making the shot easier for the president, whose last hit may not have been very successful. Once the clip was shared to social media platforms like X and Instagram, users and gold players could not get over it.

Fans React To The Clip Of Donald Trump Allegedly Cheating On A Golf Course
According to official golf associations in both the United States and Scotland, someone is only permitted to drop or place a golf ball in a new position for the player if it lands in an area that makes it unsuitable for play, like a pond or some other penalty area. Additionally, they've stated that the player must "drop" the ball, not a caddie. So, seeing a clip of a caddie trying to act casual while dropping a ball for the president certainly raised some eyebrows.
One Instagram user wrote that Trump cheating at golf was "the only way he knows how to win."
"Anyone surprised?" asked another.
"What an embarrassment," added a user.
One user called the president "commander in cheat," which is actually also the title of a 2019 biographical novel that explores his golf history.
"People who cheat at golf cheat all throughout life," commented another user.
Although some users who have been against the 79-year-old for a while weren't too surprised to see the clip, others were, given his long history with the beloved sport and his having spent years bragging about his alleged golf skills.
While his golf playing is the least of many American citizens' concerns, the viral clip is still buzzing all around the internet, and we'll be curious to see if any more footage of him supposedly cheating gets released.
