BB creams have earned a reputation for being beauty miracle workers, able to moisturize, protect, and correct your skin all in one. But did you know that your favorite drugstore versions might actually be harming, rather than helping, your skin? Here, we reveal the one drugstore BB cream dermatologists say you should stop using immediately.

Experts say you'll want to avoid any BB cream that contains alcohol, specifically isopropyl alcohol. While it is typically used to give your BB cream that quick-drying finish and weightless feel, it actually dehydrates the skin and exacerbates acne. This occurs because alcohol destorys the surface of your skin, which can increase bumps and lead to enlarged pores.

And if you have oily skin, this ingredient will only make matters worse. According to the Paula's Choice website, a leader in skincare, "alcohol can actually increase oiliness, so the immediate de-greasing effect is eventually counteracted, prompting your oily skin to look even more shiny." Yikes.

A wiser choice? Dr. Gervaise Gerstner told Prevention.com that you should opt for a water-based product to avoid drying out your skin.

So the next time your peruse the drugstore aisle for a BB cream, make sure to read your labels and stay clear of any ones that contain alcohol!
