The Grand Jury Report On Whether Donald Trump Acted ‘Unlawfully’ After The Election Is Complete–But Will It Be Released To The Public?

A grand jury just concluded a criminal investigation into whether there were any “coordinated attempts to unlawfully alter the outcome of the 2020 elections” in Georgia by former President Donald Trump and his allies. But will we be able to see this report anytime soon? Not likely.

The Georgia Grand Jury Completed Their Criminal Investigation Into Donald Trump

The grand jury was convened for an investigation into “‘the facts and circumstances relating directly or indirectly to possible attempts to disrupt the lawful administration of the 2020 elections in the State of Georgia’ and to prepare a report on whether anyone should be prosecuted for such potential crimes,” Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney recounted in a ruling.

His ruling dissolved the panel because it has completed its work and submitted its report on its findings to the Fulton County district attorney’s office. “The Court thanks the grand jurors for their dedication, professionalism, and significant commitment of time and attention to this important matter. It was no small sacrifice to serve,” the judge wrote. The ruling did not say what those findings were or if the report will ever be released to the public.

A special purpose grand jury is different than a typical grand jury. It submits its findings in a report to the District Attorney, for Fulton County it’s Fani Willis, who then decides whether to present evidence to a grand jury for criminal indictments. This special purpose grand jury basically investigated if anything unlawful was done during the 2020 election.

District Attorney Willis called for the special grand jury last year to determine if Trump and his allies tried to overturn election results. The panel had the power to issue subpoenas to force witnesses and people who were allegedly involved to testify. Among those who were questioned were Trump’s lawyer (and former New York City mayor) Rudy Giuliani, Senator Lindsey Graham, and former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows. And, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger also testified. They were pressured by Trump and his allies to alter the outcome of the 2020 election. Giuliani might actually lose his license over his false election claims.

Apparently one of the incidents Willis is reviewing is Trump’s Jan. 2, 2021, phone call with Raffensperger. In the call, Trump urged Georgia’s top election official to overturn Joe Biden’s win. Trump said in the call, “All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state.” Trump has insisted that he did nothing wrong in the Raffensperger call and described it as “perfect.”

It’s not certain if or when the grand jury report would become public although the judge scheduled a hearing on whether it should be. McBurney said the grand jury “certified that it voted to recommend that its report be published.” Only time will tell!

Donald Trump Is Losing Donors For The 2024 Presidential Campaign

Despite the fact that this special grand jury was ongoing, Trump launched his 2024 presidential campaign on Nov. 15th, 2022. Now, it seems like he is already losing allies. Some of the billionaire megadonors who helped him win in 2016, who also aided his failed 2020 campaign, are taking their money elsewhere (maybe to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis?). Either way, it looks like this twice-impeached former POTUS is going to have to find support elsewhere.
