If there’s one way we would love to improve upon our beloved iPhones it’s by expanding its current storage capabilities so that it can hold much more data before requiring that we scramble to delete files and save space. Having to make difficult choices about which media files like photos and videos to keep and which to delete for the sake of storage is no one’s idea of a good time, but what if there was a simple, easy, and effective storage-saving hack that takes seconds to execute and doesn’t require deleting a single photo?

Tech Expert Thomas Villalpando, fo-founder, author, and editor at IPet Guides, lets us in on the easy-as-can-be hack that you can try right now to gain back valuable iPhone storage space.

Offload Apps

Have a feeling some of your apps are the culprits behind your storage woes, but not sure how to address the issue? Offloading apps can free up storage in two ways.

“Firstly, apps often accumulate caches, temporary files, and app data over time, which consume storage space,” Villalpando says. “You remove these unnecessary files by offloading unused apps and increasing available storage. Secondly, apps typically contain resources such as images, videos, and databases that occupy significant space. Offloading apps allows you to retain your data while reclaiming space by removing the app itself.”

How To Offload Apps

Get ready to take up no more than a few seconds of your day to make a big difference in your phone’s storage capabilities.

To offload apps on an iPhone, Villalpando suggest following these steps:

** Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone.

** Tap on "General" and select "iPhone Storage" or "iPad Storage," depending on your device.

** You will see a list of apps with the amount of storage they occupy. Scroll through the list and identify the apps you want to offload.

** Tap on an app and select "Offload App." Confirm your selection if prompted.

** The app will be offloaded, and its icon will appear with a cloud symbol. The associated data will remain on your device, but the app itself will be removed.

That’s it — that’s all it takes.

“By regularly offloading unused apps, you can optimize your iPhone's storage and make room for important files, photos, and videos,” Villalpando says. “It's a convenient and quick way to free up space without losing any vital data.”
