Justin Bieber has recently opened up about the trials and tribulations of his first year of marriage with Hailey Baldwin Bieber, and the 27-year-old pop star isn’t holding anything back. While the couple have now been married since September 2018 and are doing better than ever, Bieber revealed that this hasn’t always been the case.

Speaking to GQ for the May issue, Bieber shared that insecurity and past issues came back to haunt the first year of marriage with his new wife. “The first year of marriage was really tough because there was a lot going back to the trauma. There was just a lack of trust," Bieber said. "There was all these things that you don't want to admit to the person that you're with, because it's scary. You don't want to scare them off by saying, 'I'm scared.'”
However, Bieber admitted that Baldwin was able to support him through these difficult times, being the rock he hasn’t had in the past. Bieber’s close friend Ryan Good shared, “She is just a strong, consistent, stabilizing force in his life. And that was something he was missing all those years.”
While the 2018 marriage shocked many fans, Bieber revealed that he felt compelled to make that commitment early. “I just felt like that was my calling. Just to get married and have babies and do that whole thing." Bieber then clarified that the pair are not currently ready for a child, but “will eventually” begin trying.
Despite their struggles, the ‘Peaches’ singer shared that he and his wife are doing better than ever and are happy just spending time together. “We’re just creating these moments for us as a couple, as a family, that we’re building these memories. And it’s beautiful that we have that to look forward to. Before, I didn’t have that to look forward to in my life.” Aw!
